Get Involved!

We invite New York-based artists and independent curators to use their skills to enhance New York City's communities; we encourage agencies in all five boroughs to ask for artwork; we ask others to volunteer their support for our programs.

Why Contribute to ACNY?

To make a difference in people's lives! To connect with people who rarely experience the trans-formative popwer of art AND to increase your exposure and make new links to New York's art community.

How to Donate Work

Send an email to gingers@artconnectsnewyork.org (or via U.S.P.S.) including:

jpeg(s) of the piece(s) you wish to donate
Identify each piece being donated with: Name, Media, size, date and file name
Your contact information: name, address and phone number
Your CV

When ACNY receives your e-mail, we’ll let you know you've been added to our database. DO NOT SEND ORIGINAL ARTWORK! The work you identify for donation stays in your possession until it is placed in a recipient agency; the images will be available for review by placement curators.

If you should sell a piece you've placed in the ACNY database, let us know, and we'll remove it.

Curators

Why Curate for ACNY?

Curators are the active link between donating artists, recipient agencies, their clients and staff and ACNY. It's your vision that enhances the public areas of recipient agencies. You'll be "giving back" to your city and at the same time enhancing your resume.

How to Curate an ACNY Placement

Send an email to gingers@ArtConnectsNewYork.org
including your resume and a statement about your curating interests. We'll add you to our list of interested curators and contact you when we have a pending placement appropriate to your skill level and interests.

As independent curator Krista Saunders observed: As an independent curator who strives to engage viewers both in and outside the art world. . . I'm thrilled this placement is a permanent installation and will be enjoyed for years to come!

Agencies

Why Add Artwork?

Because art inspires, heals, transforms, and delights viewers: you, your clients, your staff, your visitors, and your funders.

ACNY works with all types of social service agencies in all of the city's five boroughs and we're always looking for new placements.

Fill out an application form--below--and send or e-mail it to gingers@artconnectsnewyork.org.
We'll contact you to set up a meeting and see when we can get the process started. And please note:
ACNY Placements are FREE!
There is no cost to recipient agencies for the artwork, framing, installation or management of the project. ACNY asks only that
recipient agencies host an opening reception to bring the curator, artists, clients, staff and other interested parties together!

Our clients are really pleased to know there are people out there who really care about them—enough to give their work to them.

Volunteers

ACNY Needs Your Help!

On a day-to-day basis, ACNY needs help making placements and exhibitions at ACNY Exhibition Space happen quickly and smoothly. Ways volunteers can help:

Moving artwork
Installing artwork--in agencies or at ACNY Exhibition Space
Database entry--helping keep ACNY's artwork/artist/agency/ curator database up to date
Website maintenance
Event security at ACNY Exhibition Space
And, of course, MORE!

Tell us who you are, the kinds of volunteering that interests you, the time you have available, and attach a resume. We'll be in touch with you!

Volunteer Julia D. bubbled: I can't remember when volunteering has been so immediately rewarding. It was a triple hit: good art to look at while you're working, great people to work with and, best of all, an immediate, positive response. It just doesn't get better than that!
